GOP Tax Bill: Payday for Fossil Fuels, Devastating for American Families
Response from Oil Change International
Today, Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives released a belabored tax bill that includes huge cuts to the wealthiest 1% of Americans, permanently lowers the corporate tax rate, while leaving in place billions in tax breaks for the fossil fuel industry. In response, Janet Redman, U.S. Policy Director at Oil Change International, released the following statement:
“The GOP is once again trying to hand the super-rich and their friends in corporate America lavish tax breaks – and they expect us to pay for them by giving up our healthcare, our safety, and our children’s future. Republicans want to open up sacred land in the Arctic Refuge for oil drilling allegedly to raise money to cover their cuts, but they leave in place tens of billions in tax giveaways to oil, gas, and coal companies. Any member of Congress who cares about American workers and families or our children’s futures must stand up and reject this outright assault.”
