Senate Energy Bill Fails the Climate Test
In response to Senate passage of an energy policy bill today, David Turnbull, Campaigns Director of Oil Change International, released the following statement:
“Today’s energy bill passed by the Senate shows what millions of dollars in campaign contributions can buy for the fossil fuel industry. Rather than fully aligning our energy policy with climate science, the Senate has chosen business-as-usual energy policy that continues our reliance on the very fuels causing the emergency while taking modest steps to improve energy efficiency. Senators are missing the writing on the wall: investments in renewables are soaring, and we are headed towards the end of the fossil fuel era. Meanwhile, this bill fails the climate test.”
