FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
6 JANUARY 2015

In response to White House spokesperson Josh Earnest’s confirmation that President Obama would veto proposed legislation that would force approval of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, Steve Kretzmann, Executive Director of Oil Change International released the following statement:

“The President is right to threaten a veto of legislation to approve the pipeline, just as he’ll be right to reject Keystone XL once and for all. The pipeline clearly fails the climate test that the President set out last year, particularly with low oil prices.  As the president has said, this pipeline isn’t about helping Americans, its only about helping Big Oil in Canada.  We look forward to a veto, a rejection, and moving forward with the important business of creating a clean energy future that will benefit all of us.”
