Oil Change International reaction to McCutcheon v. FEC Supreme Court ruling
Faith remains in American people to rally against greed
WASHINGTON, DC —Today the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Shaun McCutcheon in “McCutcheon v. FEC”, striking aggregate limits to political contributions. In response, Stephen Kretzmann, Executive Director of Oil Change International, released the following statement:
“Score another one for the polluters. Today, the Supreme Court sided with a climate denying coal baron bent on spending massive amounts of money to wield influence in Washington. This is a dark day for anyone who cares about democracy, clean energy, or our climate.
Money isn’t everything though. Tens of millions of dollars was spent in the last election by the fossil fuel industry to target candidates who oppose the Keystone XL tar sands export pipeline, and who support clean energy and a safe climate. All of those candidates won, despite the mountains of money thrown at them.
Despite this cynical and reactionary decision, we’ll keep our faith in the only force that has consistently rallied against greed throughout our nation’s history – the American people.”

How do you Sleep at Night?? Democracy? Yeah right. America is becoming a laughing stock. It’s all about the $$$$. Our Politicians are SELLOUTS! It disgusts me.
How can buying politicians not be illegal.
Democracy for sale! Shame on SCOTUS! You 5 disgust me.
What a truly dreadful and dispiriting decision by a Supreme Court run amok. the only remedy is to organize to overturn both Citizens United and McCutcheon. We need to keep electing Democrats to address the imbalance of the SCOTUS and prevent our republic from becoming a plutocracy.
