What Do you Call a Glacier Park With No Glaciers?
Published by Andy Rowell March 31st, 2006 in Climate Change, OilMetro, the free newspaper for commuters in London, is running a competition to find the new name for the Glacier National Park in the US.
As the paper explains:
“Glacier National Park has a problem: its ice is going the way of the Norwegian blue parrrot of Monty Python fame - rapidly shuffling off this mortal coil and pushing up the daises. It will soon be an ex-glacier park”.
Scientists are predicting that the Park will glacier-free by 2030. “The thing is, what do you call a glacier park that’s missing its glaciers?” asks Metro.
